SPICEFIEND Crispy Tofu
At SPICEFIEND, we have felt the pain and suffering of many cooks having to scroll through pages of inane chatter/life stories (aka "content") and pictures in order to arrive at the recipe they desire. We are committed to providing a compassionate, scroll-free existence, so here is the recipe. Of course, please feel free to scroll through our BS Life Story if you wish to waste a small portion of your life:
Another hit recipe from gourmet chef Natalina Rinaldi! This crispy tofu recipe is delicious on its own, added to a salad, or in a wrap with veggies. This tofu goes great with some garlic yogurt sauce for dipping or including in your wrap.
ingredients
- 1 pkg (420 gr) FIRM tofu, drained and sliced horizontally)
- Vegetable oil
- 1 tsp SPICEFIEND Curry Flavoured Spice Melange
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- Salt
- Cornstarch
instructions
- Slice tofu, brush with minimal oil on both sides. Lay them in a baking dish.
- Combine Curry Spice Melange and garlic powder and sprinkle over both sides. Cover the dish with plastic wrap, and marinate in fridge overnight.
- When ready to cook, sprinkle a bit of salt over the tofu (not too much!) to taste.
- Sprinkle cornstarch in a plate and dredge the tofu slices in it just before cooking.
- Shake off excess cornstarch. (It’s just as good without this step, but not as crispy).
- Add some veg oil in a frying pan and lay the slices in when oil is hot. Turn slices over to brown and crisp both sides. About 5 min each side. Don’t overcook!
- Blot on paper towels.
